How to Prepare for Carthage Expo: The Complete Exhibitor Guide

Carthage Expo is the most important trade fair in the Tunisian calendar. It is the annual multi-sector event that brings together the largest number of Tunisian and international exhibitors, the highest volume of professional visitors, and the most active foreign buyer delegations. For a Tunisian company seeking to develop local visibility or acquire new commercial partners, Carthage Expo is the unmissable opportunity.

But a poorly prepared Carthage Expo participation is a lost opportunity. Competition between exhibitors is intense. The number of stands, the scale of the venue, and the visitor volume create an environment where brands that do not stand out disappear into the crowd. This guide gives you the tools to prepare a participation that produces real commercial results.

Carthage Expo: What You Need to Know

Carthage Expo is held annually at the Parc des Expositions et Centre de Commerce International du Kram in La Goulette in the northern suburbs of Tunis. It is Tunisia's largest exhibition venue with 40,000 sqm of covered space across several halls.

The show is multi-sector: industry, agriculture, agri-food, construction, energy, technology, services, and more. This sector diversity is both an advantage — the audience is broad — and a challenge — you are exhibiting alongside brands from very different sectors.

Recent Carthage Expo editions have brought together several hundred Tunisian and international exhibitors and attracted tens of thousands of visitors over the show's duration. The quality of foreign buyer delegations — notably from Maghreb countries, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Europe — makes Carthage Expo a genuinely international event for well-prepared exhibitors.

Step 1: Registration and Space Booking

The first step is to contact the Carthage Expo organiser to book your space. Registrations generally open several months before the show. Do not delay: the best locations — central aisles, near entrances, hall corners — book first.

Information to confirm at registration: surface in sqm, location in the hall, type of space (bare or equipped stand), and included services.

If you choose a bare space — recommended for exhibitors wanting a customised stand — you will receive a floor plan with electrical connection points and exact dimensions. Send this plan to your stand contractor immediately upon receipt.

Step 2: Brief Your Stand Contractor

Once your space is confirmed, brief your stand contractor immediately. For Carthage Expo, a timeline of 10 to 12 weeks before the show is the minimum recommended for a serious custom stand. Below this timeline, the quality of design and fabrication is compromised.

The brief must answer these questions: What are your commercial objectives at this show? Who are your target visitors? What action do you want them to take at your stand? What elements must be present? What is your total budget including design, fabrication, transport, installation, and dismantling?

Step 3: Stand Design

Your stand design must respond to a precise commercial objective, not aesthetic preferences. Before approving any 3D rendering, clearly define what you expect your stand to achieve.

Key principles for Carthage Expo: aisle visibility is the priority, a tall structure, strong graphic facade, or distinctive architectural element generates stops. The stand opening facilitates entry, an open stand on at least one main face naturally invites visitors in. Meeting space is essential from 18 sqm, if your objective is meeting distributors or institutional buyers, your stand needs a semi-private meeting area. Graphics must communicate in 3 seconds, most visitors decide in 3 seconds whether to approach a stand.

Step 4: Logistics at the Kram Centre

The Kram Exhibition Centre imposes specific technical regulations. Height restrictions vary by hall, verify the maximum height for your location before validating your stand design. Structural approval is required for stands with elements exceeding standard limits. Electrical installation must be carried out by approved technicians.

EFFECT Global manages all compliance and approval processes as part of every project delivered at the Kram.

Step 5: Prepare Your Team

The best-designed stand underperforms if the team manning it is unprepared. Define roles for each team member. Prepare your presentation scripts before the show. Plan team rotations for multi-day shows. Set measurable objectives: number of qualified contacts to collect, meetings to schedule post-show, proposals to send.

Step 6: Post-Show Follow-Up

The value of a Carthage Expo participation is realised in the weeks after the show. Within 48 hours of the show's end, send a personalised email to each qualified contact met at the stand. Contacts that are not followed up within 48 to 72 hours cool quickly.
